A 78-year-old Michigan man has been arrested and charged following a Michigan State Police investigation into alleged sexual assaults involving an adult female tenant.
According to troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post, the investigation began in July 2025 after a criminal sexual conduct complaint was reported in Green Township. Investigators allege that Thomas Serino, a longtime landlord in the Gaylord, Vanderbilt, and Hubbard Lake areas, sexually assaulted an adult female tenant on two separate occasions.
Serino was taken into custody on December 30 and transported to the Alpena County Jail, where he was lodged without incident.
He was arraigned January 2 in the 88th District Court on the following charges:
- Criminal Sexual Conduct, Second Degree (Multiple Variables)
- Criminal Sexual Conduct, Second Degree Assault
The court set bond at $25,000 cash or surety. Serino’s next scheduled court appearance is set for January 12 at 2:00 p.m.
State police say Serino had close contact with numerous individuals during his time as a landlord and are urging any additional potential victims to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Kennedy at the Gaylord Post at 989-732-2778.
Serino is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
