A two-year-old girl has died after being accidentally ran over by her father on Sunday evening. The incident happened at about 5:30pm in the area of Victoria and McDougall Street in Detroit.
According to police the girl was in the arms of a relative when she got down and ran into the street as her father drove away in his vehicle. She was then accidentally struck by the vehicle.
The child was rushed to Children’s Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Detroit Police Captain Derrick Griffin called the incident a “tragic accident” and said “our hearts and condolences go out to this family and to this community.”
