You’d think getting arrested on child exploitation charges would scare a guy into stopping. Not Thomas Shannon, 43, a former orthodontist from the western part of the state. He posted bond on his state charges and went right back to it. Must be some sort of stupid ass.
OUT ON BOND AND STILL AT IT
Shannon was busted in 2023 on local child porn charges. Bond was set, he paid it, $20,000 worth (which we think was far too low, clearly), and instead of laying low, investigators say he kept preying on kids. That’s next level unable to be rehabilitated type shit.
INVESTIGATION BLOWS IT OPEN
A therapist came forward after a 16-year-old victim said Shannon exploited them through Snapchat. Investigators followed the digital trail through Snapchat and Cash App records and it all circled back to Shannon.
Here’s the kicker. Shannon hired a private forensic examiner to prove he was innocent. The examiner looked at his phone and found child sexual abuse material. Instead of clearing his name, it got turned over to law enforcement. Talk about a backfire.
NOW THE FEDS ARE INVOLVED
On August 20, 2025, federal prosecutors arrested Shannon in Frankfort and charged him with five felonies:
– Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography
– Receipt of Child Pornography
– Possession of Child Pornography
– Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
– Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
These carry mandatory prison time, with sentences ranging from 5 years up to 30.
STATE AND FEDERAL TROUBLE
He still has state charges pending in Kent County and now he’s got the feds lined up against him. He had one shot at freedom and threw it away. He didn’t just dig a hole. He dug a crater.

Some people screw up once and wise up. Shannon doubled down like the alleged pedophile he is and now he’s looking at decades behind bars. Better for the rest of us (and him, too.)
