A woman from Utica was fatally stabbed Sunday at the Meijer gas station on Hall Road near Hayes Road in Shelby Township.
According to authorities, the victim was attacked and later died from her injuries. The suspect, a man who also lives in Utica, fled the scene but was quickly tracked down and taken into custody.
“Both the victim and the suspect are residents of Utica and knew each other. This was not a random attack. There is no threat to the public,” the Shelby Township Police Department said in a press release.
The names of both the victim and the suspect have not yet been released, and the motive behind the stabbing remains unclear.
This incident remains under investigation.
