POLICE AND PUBLIC ASSISTANCE LEAD TO ARREST AFTER INCIDENT AT MONROE PARK

On October 3, 2025, at about 5:58 PM, Central Dispatch received reports of a fight involving a knife at Father Cairns Park. An on-duty officer who was already at the park for an event responded immediately after hearing shouting from the basketball court.

The officer located a 19-year-old male suspect and ordered him to stop, but the suspect fled on foot. The chase carried over railroad tracks, through private residences, and into nearby businesses. Additional MSP and MCSO officers arrived and set up a perimeter as the suspect continued to run.

Thanks to coordinated police action and help from the public, the suspect was tasered and taken into custody in the 1200 block of Union Street. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, but after being medically cleared he broke free while being escorted out in handcuffs. Officers chased him again and re-apprehended him before lodging him at the Monroe County Jail.

The suspect now faces multiple charges including Creating a Disturbance, Resisting and Obstructing, and Assaulting a Police Officer. He also had two outstanding warrants at the time of arrest.
