Daughter Charged With Murder In Southfield Mothers Death

Pontiac, MI – The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 22-year-old Riley Donaldson with First Degree Murder in connection with the death of her mother, Ada Mae Simmons-Jones.

According to investigators, Simmons-Jones was found shot multiple times on October 5. A purse believed to belong to the victim was recovered at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle matching the suspect’s leaving the area shortly after the shooting.

Authorities say Donaldson fled to Ohio, where she lives, before returning to Michigan a few hours later.

“Ada Mae Simmons-Jones’ death is a tragedy,” said Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald. “While nothing can bring her back or repair the loss for her loved ones, we will fight to get her justice.”

Donaldson is charged with First Degree Murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted.

Charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
