TAYLOR, Mich. – On September 29, 2025, the Taylor Police Department received a threatening email indicating plans to blow up the police station and kill an officer.
Following an intensive investigation, police arrested 33-year-old Steven Barber of Livonia, who is also under investigation for similar incidents in neighboring jurisdictions.
On October 10, Barber was charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office with:
- False Report or Threat of Terrorism (Felony – 20 years)
- Computers – Use to Commit a Crime (Felony – 20 years)
- False Report or Threat of Bomb/Harmful Device (Felony – 4 years)
- Computers – Use to Commit a Crime (Felony – 7 years)
Barber was arraigned on October 11 in 23rd District Court.
Authorities emphasized that all threats against law enforcement, first responders, or public officials will be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
