Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 31-year-old Stephanie Holt, of St. Clair Shores, was arraigned on charges connected to the death of a woman discovered at the foot of a driveway on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
According to investigators, St. Clair Shores Police were called to the scene after a 76-year-old woman, identified as Mary Hulswit of St. Clair Shores, was found deceased with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. It is alleged that Holt struck Hulswit while backing out of her driveway and then left the scene.
Holt was arraigned on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, before Magistrate Genevieve L. Taylor in the 40th District Court on the following charges:
Charges:
• Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident – When at Fault – Resulting in Death — 15-year felony
• Felony – Commission with Motor Vehicle — Felony charge
Magistrate Taylor set Holt’s bond at $100,000 cash/surety/10%. If released, she must wear a GPS tether, cannot return to the scene of the incident, and is prohibited from having contact with the victim’s family.
A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., and a Preliminary Exam on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., both before Judge Mark A. Fratarcangeli at the 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido stated, “Fleeing from an accident, particularly one that results in serious injury or death, is illegal. When an accident occurs, the law requires that individuals stop and immediately contact emergency services.”
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that all individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
