Mount Clemens, MI — A Mount Clemens woman who admitted to shooting her father twice and was facing up to 10 years in prison has received probation instead of jail time, according to Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
Cheyenne Randolph, 21, pleaded guilty on August 19, 2025, to Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm (a 10-year felony) and Felony Firearm (a mandatory 2-year felony) for the February 2024 shooting of her father. She appeared for sentencing on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, before Judge James M. Maceroni in Macomb County Circuit Court.
Judge Maceroni sentenced her to 24 months of probation and granted her Holmes Youthful Trainee Status (HYTA), allowing her to avoid a felony conviction if she successfully completes the program.
As part of her probation, Randolph must have no contact with her father, cannot use drugs or alcohol, must maintain employment, attend counseling, complete a cognitive-restructuring program, and obtain her GED. If she fails to comply, HYTA can be revoked and she may be resentenced — facing the full penalties of her original charges. If she completes probation successfully, the conviction will not appear on her public record.
The case stems from a Feb. 23, 2024 fight inside the home. Randolph, then 20, argued with her father, pulled a gun, and fired four shots, striking him twice. His injuries were not life-threatening.
At the time of her plea, Prosecutor Lucido called the shooting “a stark reminder that you cannot reach for a weapon when words will do,” adding that the outcome “could have been far worse.”
Lucido emphasized that while rehabilitation is important, the responsibility now lies with Randolph to honor the terms of HYTA.
“I do not take lightly the circumstances that brought her here, but in addition to seeking justice, my office believes in rehabilitation. Her sentencing under HYTA is a privilege—one that she now has the responsibility to honor. I certainly hope she successfully completes the terms of her probation,” said Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
