A Michigan man found out the hard way that McDonald’s may offer one free replacement meal — but it doesn’t come with unlimited refills or an express lane onto Interstate 75.
Benjamin Milo Wisner, 41, of Chelsea, Michigan was arrested Tuesday, November 25, after what officers described as a slow-speed pursuit through Bowling Green, Ohio eventually spilling onto I-75 at speeds between four and twelve miles per hour. It began shortly after 8:40 a.m. when employees at the McDonald’s drive-thru on E. Wooster Street called police to report a customer who was yelling, cursing and demanding multiple free meals.
When officers approached Wisner in the drive-thru, he slowly drove off, and that set the pace for the entire chase. According to police, Wisner repeatedly stopped his truck, forcing officers to exit, approach, command him to stop, then watch him roll away at lawn-tractor speeds topping no more than 10mph, only for him to repeat the process…several times. The chase finally drifted onto the I-75 entrance ramp before officers boxed him in during another breakneck speed of 4mph. A true full-stop moment.
Once surrounded, Wisner raised his hands but still refused to exit the truck for several minutes, police said. Officers reported seeing him reach for a bag inside the vehicle before eventually complying. A pocketknife was recovered, and Wisner allegedly phoned 911 during the pursuit…twice, hanging up when he didn’t like what he was being told.
He was taken into custody and charged with:
