A two story home on Hagen Road near Scheuer in Chesterfield Township went up in flames late Saturday night, pulling in fire crews from across northern Macomb County. Chesterfield Fire arrived to find the home heavily involved with two vehicles also burning. Because the area has no hydrant access, a Water Tender Strike Team was ordered, bringing in tankers and support from New Baltimore, Macomb, Selfridge, New Haven, Lenox, Memphis, Richmond, Washington, Ray, Armada, and Selfridge ANG Base. Bruce Township later responded with a tanker as well. The homeowners made it out safely and no injuries were reported at the time of the initial response.

An update Sunday morning confirmed that conditions were difficult for firefighters throughout the night. Winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour pushed flames through the structure, propane tanks exploded on scene, and icy roads made travel and water movement more hazardous. Two occupants were transported by Medstar EMS for evaluation. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced residents with emergency needs and temporary support. Chesterfield Police remain involved with the investigation and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
