An additional charge has now been filed against Dawn Huffman in the alleged murder conspiracy targeting Macomb County businessman Eddie Jawad. Prosecutors have added Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Homicide, a life-maximum offense, to her existing charges of Embezzlement of $100,000 or more, a 20-year felony, and Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement, a 5-year felony. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said the new charge reflects the growing seriousness of the case, adding that his office remains committed to uncovering all evidence and holding everyone involved fully accountable.
Investigators say the case originated inside Jawad Investments where more than $100,000 in company funds was allegedly stolen through misuse of a business credit card intended for DTE Energy payments. Prosecutors accuse Huffman, who served as the company’s office manager for over twenty years, of using the card for personal spending, sparking the internal investigation that ultimately led to the alleged murder plot.

According to authorities, once unusual activity was discovered and questions were asked, Dawn Huffman, her husband Rachard Huffman, and his brother Jasan Martin allegedly conspired to silence Jawad. On the morning of October 14, 2025, investigators say Martin hid under a vehicle in Jawad’s driveway, waited until Jawad backed out, then opened fire as he drove away. Jawad survived the attack.
Martin and Rachard Huffman are already charged with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and both remain held on $1 million cash or surety bonds. Dawn Huffman is currently held on a $500,000 cash or surety bond.
A joint Preliminary Exam for all three defendants is set for Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 1 p.m. before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski at 41A District Court in Shelby Township.
All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
