Clinton Township Woman Arraigned After Allegedly Stabbing Ex-Boyfriend, Crashing His Car in Sterling Heights

Mount Clemens, MI — A 24-year-old Clinton Township woman has been arraigned on serious felony charges after prosecutors say she stabbed her ex-boyfriend during a domestic dispute, then fled the scene in his vehicle and caused a multi-car crash.

Laquinn Smith

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Laquinn Smith was arraigned following an alleged stabbing that occurred Thursday, December 11, 2025. Investigators say Smith and the victim were living together in Clinton Township when a verbal argument escalated into violence. During the dispute, Smith allegedly stabbed the man twice.

According to authorities, Smith then fled the residence in the victim’s vehicle. Police say she was later involved in a major traffic crash near Hall Road and Romeo Plank in Sterling Heights involving several vehicles. That crash remains under investigation.

An interim arraignment was held Saturday, December 13, 2025, before Magistrate Jean M. Cloud at the Macomb County Jail. Smith is charged with Assault With Intent to Murder, a felony punishable by life or any term of years in prison, and Aggravated Domestic Violence, a one-year misdemeanor.

Magistrate Cloud set bond at $250,000 cash or surety only, with no 10%. Smith is expected to be formally arraigned before a district court judge at a later date.

“Violence will not cure your problems—it only multiplies them,” Prosecutor Lucido said in a statement. “Those who choose to resort to violence will be held fully accountable under the law. Our office will pursue these cases aggressively to protect victims and to make clear that violence has no place in our homes or our community.”

As with all criminal cases, Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
