Violent Home Invasion Suspect Arrested, $750K Bond Set in Shelby Township Case

A Pontiac man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he brutally attacked a homeowner during a violent home invasion in Shelby Township earlier this month.

Jesus Garcia Jr.

According to police, officers responded on December 11, 2025, to the 47000 block of Van Dyke Avenue following reports of a home invasion in progress. When officers arrived, they found the homeowner injured after being severely beaten inside his residence. The victim was treated at the scene by the Shelby Township Fire Department.

Investigators say the victim reported hearing a window break at the rear of his home. When he opened the door to investigate, the suspect allegedly forced his way inside, assaulted the homeowner, and stole several items before fleeing the area.

Evidence technicians, detectives, and the department’s Special Investigations Unit responded and launched an investigation. Following multiple interviews and the execution of search warrants, police identified the suspect as Jesus Garcia Jr., 36, of Pontiac.

The case was submitted to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, which authorized the following charges:

  • First-Degree Home Invasion
  • Unlawful Imprisonment
  • Unarmed Robbery
  • Larceny Over $1,000
  • Larceny in a Building
  • Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense

On December 16, 2025, officers located Garcia Jr. in a parking lot in Auburn Hills and took him into custody without incident. Police credited FLOCK automated license plate reader cameras as a key tool in tracking and locating the suspect.

Garcia Jr. was arraigned the following day in 41-A District Court, where Christopher Alayan set bond at $750,000 cash or surety.

“A home invasion is one of the most serious crimes we deal with, and we will respond with zero tolerance. Our officers and detectives moved fast, identified the suspect, and made an arrest. Anyone who targets our residents in their own homes will be found, arrested, and held accountable. We are a law-and-order community. This department will not back down, and we will not allow violent criminals to think they can operate in our township.”

Shelby Township Police Chief Robert J. Shelide

Court records show Garcia Jr. had been released from parole in January 2025 after prior felony convictions for a third-degree home invasion and multiple controlled-substance offenses, and did not make it a full year before the alleged Shelby Township home invasion.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
