Detroit Pistons Fall To Utah Jazz Friday Night

The Detroit Pistons came up just short on December 26, falling 131–129 to the Utah Jazz in a tightly contested road matchup that came down to the final possessions. Detroit led after the first quarter and stayed competitive throughout, but Utah’s 44-point third quarter proved to be the difference.

Cade Cunningham delivered one of his strongest all-around performances of the season, finishing with 29 points and 17 assists while playing 37 minutes. Tobias Harris added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Duncan Robinson knocked down four 3-pointers as part of a 14-point effort. Detroit shot well from deep but struggled to slow Utah’s tempo and ball movement after halftime.

The loss drops the Detroit Pistons to 24–7 on the season, while the Utah Jazz improved to 11–19 with the win. Despite the defeat, Detroit showed late-game resolve, trimming the deficit to two points in the closing moments before Utah closed it out at the line.

The Pistons now look ahead to Sunday, December 28, when they travel to Los Angeles to take on the LA Clippers. The Clippers enter the matchup at 9–21, setting up a clear bounce-back opportunity for Detroit as it continues its West Coast swing.
