Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation In Clinton Township

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Clinton Township Police Department are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that left a 27-year-old man dead Monday night.

Police say the crash happened at approximately 8:06 pm on westbound Metropolitan Parkway, east of Groesbeck Highway.

According to investigators, a black 2019 Ram ProMaster 3500 van struck the rear of a green 2019 Ford Mustang, which then was pushed into the back of a black 2010 Ford Transit Connect van. Police said the Mustang and Transit Connect were stopped at a traffic light at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Transit Connect immediately checked on the other drivers involved and found the driver of the Mustang unresponsive.

The Mustang driver was transported by Medstar Ambulance to McLaren Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim was identified as a 27-year-old man from Ann Arbor.

Authorities also confirmed that the driver and a passenger from the Ram ProMaster left the scene before first responders arrived. Officers located them a short time later, and both were transported to McLaren Hospital for medical treatment.

At this stage of the investigation, police say it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
