Suspect Arraigned on Multiple Charges After Drive-By Shooting in Shelby Township

A 24-year-old Oak Park man has been arrested and arraigned in connection with a drive-by shooting that struck a home in Shelby Township.

Police say officers were dispatched around 6:30 a.m. Dec. 26 to the 48000 block of Pineview following multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots. When officers arrived, they found the residence had been struck several times by gunfire. Spent shell casings were recovered from the street.

Two people were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Neither was injured. The suspect fled before officers arrived, according to police.

Detectives, evidence technicians, and the Special Investigations Unit launched an investigation, conducting multiple interviews and search warrants. Police later identified the suspect as Keshawn Ali Lamar Webster, a 24-year-old male from Oak Park, Michigan.

Investigators located the suspect’s vehicle near 9 Mile Road and Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. Detectives set up surveillance and, around 3:30 p.m., observed the suspect walking to the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police say a handgun was recovered from the suspect’s purse, along with additional evidence found inside the vehicle. Investigators determined the shooting was not a random act.

On Dec. 30, the suspect was arraigned in 41-A District Court on the following charges:

  • Two counts of assault with intent to murder
  • Four counts of felony firearm
  • Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle
  • Discharge of a firearm into a building

Bond was set at $1,000,000 cash or surety.

Shelby Township Police Department Chief Robert J. Shelide said the arrest underscores the department’s aggressive approach to violent crime.

“If you commit a violent crime in Shelby Township, our police department will track you down, arrest you, and hold you accountable. Our department’s track record of arresting suspects who commit violent acts in our community speaks for itself.”

Police also highlighted a series of major arrests made in Shelby Township over the past six months, including cases involving homicide, home invasion, armed robbery, and violent assaults.
