Anthony Cuyler, 47, was sentenced Monday to 45 to 90 years in prison on three counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, along with an additional 18 to 40 years for Delivery of Methamphetamine to a Minor. The sentencing comes years after the case first began and follows his January 2026 jury conviction.

Cuyler was originally charged in 2019 in connection with the sexual assaults of two girls, ages 11 and 12. Prosecutors said he also provided the victims with methamphetamine. After charges were filed, authorities say Cuyler fled Michigan and avoided arrest for several years.

He was eventually located in Mexico and extradited back to Michigan in April 2024. The arrest was carried out through Operation Survivor Justice, a joint effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service, the Michigan Department of Attorney General, and local county prosecutors focused on tracking down fugitives wanted on sexual assault warrants.

Following his conviction, Attorney General Dana Nessel previously noted that cold case sexual assaults are among the most difficult to prosecute, praising the victims for coming forward and crediting law enforcement partners for locating and returning Cuyler to face charges.
