Port Huron, MI → A 30-year-old Port Huron resident has been arrested and charged with multiple serious child sexual abuse and exploitation offenses following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
According to MSP, Kelly Marie Burson was taken into custody after investigators seized digital evidence from her home. Authorities say the investigation began after it was discovered that files containing child sexually abusive material were being shared online, which led detectives to Burson.
Burson is charged with the following offenses:
- First-degree child abuse
- Child sexually abusive activity
- Second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under 13
- Distribution of child sexually abusive material
- Using a computer to commit a crime
She was arraigned Friday, February 6, in 72nd District Court and her bond was set at $250,000.
Michigan State Police say the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the ICAC Task Force to identify and stop individuals involved in child exploitation and internet-based offenses. Investigators emphasized that digital evidence played a key role in the case.
Officials are also urging parents to remain vigilant about their children’s online activity and to have regular conversations about internet safety.
