Oakland County, MI → A Pontiac man charged in a 2024 shooting that left a resident injured has pleaded no contest and been sentenced to prison, while several additional charges tied to the case were dismissed.

Kentrell Nasair Norton entered a no contest plea in Oakland County Circuit Court and was sentenced Feb. 9, 2026, before Judge Yasmine I. Poles. Court records show he pleaded to one count of Assault With Intent To Murder and Felony Firearm.
He received a prison sentence of 7 to 25 years on the assault conviction. He was also sentenced to the mandatory 2-year felony firearm term, which must be served first.
Records indicate Norton was granted 396 days credit toward the felony firearm sentence for time already served. After that 2-year term is completed, his 7-year minimum sentence for Assault With Intent To Murder will begin, with a maximum possible sentence of 25 years.
Multiple other charges originally filed in the case were dismissed at sentencing as part of the plea resolution.

The convictions stem from a December 2024 shooting on the 700 block of Auburn Avenue in Pontiac. Investigators previously described a large crime scene at an apartment complex parking lot where multiple shell casings were recovered, and several vehicles and apartments were struck by gunfire. A 29-year-old Pontiac man was injured in the shooting.
Authorities later executed search warrants and said they recovered a Polymer 80-style “ghost gun” believed to have been used in the incident, along with ammunition and clothing connected to the shooting.
The case also involves his brother, Terrell Norton, whose case remains ongoing. His next scheduled appearance in Oakland County Circuit Court is set for Feb. 25, 2026.
