Calhoun County, MI → A sextortion complaint reported by a young woman in Calhoun County has led to a major multi-state investigation and 26 felony charges against a North Carolina man with a prior sex offense record.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the case began when an 18-year-old woman reported that she was being extorted by a 22-year-old man from Rose Hill, North Carolina, identified as Kelbie Glover. Deputies launched an investigation and contacted the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina on Jan. 2, 2026, after identifying Glover as the suspect.
Authorities in North Carolina located Glover and determined there was probable cause that he had been threatening to release private images of the Michigan victim to her family members. He was initially arrested on one count of felony sexual extortion of an adult.
Investigators also confirmed that Glover is a registered sex offender in Sampson County, North Carolina stemming from previous convictions related to sexual battery and indecent exposure.
North Carolina officials said Glover was initially denied bond under Iryna’s Law, a state statute that can restrict bond in certain sexual offense cases. However, he was later granted bond, which was posted, resulting in his release while the investigation continued.
Between Jan. 22 and Feb. 2, investigators uncovered additional digital evidence that dramatically expanded the case. Authorities said they found images involving multiple underage girls, identified additional alleged victims who were extorted, and discovered instances where unsolicited explicit images had been sent.
During the same period, investigators said they also uncovered evidence corroborating that Glover sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman in North Carolina in late 2024.
Based on the growing evidence, authorities secured additional arrest warrants charging Glover with:
- 14 counts of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Child
- Five counts of Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Child
- One count of Second-Degree Forcible Rape
- One count of Indecent Liberties with a Child
- One count of Extortion
- One count of Disseminating Obscenities
- One count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
Combined with the original sexual extortion charge, Glover now faces a total of 26 felony charges.
On Feb. 4, Glover was arraigned in Sampson County District Court. A judge set his bond at $475,000. If released while awaiting trial, he must wear an electronic monitoring device, remain confined to his home except for work or school, and is prohibited from accessing electronic devices.
He is currently being held at the Sampson County Detention Center in North Carolina.
