Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Terrance Lamar Bowie II was bound over on charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence following a preliminary examination held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, in 41A District Court in Shelby Township.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Judge Stephen S. Sierawski determined there was sufficient evidence to move the case forward on all counts. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Stone represented the People during the exam.

Bowie faces the following charges:

  • Homicide – Second Degree, a life or any term of years felony
  • Tampering with Evidence, a 10-year felony
Brittany Harris-Beauchamp

The charges stem from an incident on Saturday, July 19, 2025, when Shelby Township police responded to an apartment following a 911 call. Authorities say Bowie allowed officers into the residence, where an investigation led to the discovery of the body of Brittany Harris-Beauchamp, a 27-year-old Madison Heights woman.

Investigators indicated the victim’s body appeared to have been moved within the room.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court before Judge James M. Biernat Jr. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Bowie remains lodged in the Macomb County Jail on a $2 million bond.

“The court’s decision to bind over the defendant affirms that there is sufficient evidence to move this case forward to trial,” Prosecutor Lucido said in a statement. “The loss of a human life is irreversible, and the victim and her loved ones deserve justice. My office will proceed with this prosecution with resolve and integrity, holding the defendant accountable in court and ensuring that the facts are presented clearly and forcefully.”

Bowie II is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
