Warren, MI → Four young adults are facing serious felony charges after Warren police say they intentionally set fire to a home and fired multiple rounds into it Tuesday morning, allegedly over a dating dispute.
The incident happened around 9:50 a.m. Feb. 17 in the 13000 block of Champaign Street, near Frazho and Schoenherr roads. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and learned that an accelerant had been used to ignite the home before gunfire erupted. The fire was extinguished quickly and no one inside the residence was injured.
Police said the suspects fled the scene in a sport utility vehicle. Investigators later located the vehicle at a home in Roseville. While conducting surveillance, officers observed the suspects leaving in another vehicle. A traffic stop was attempted near 11 Mile and Schoenherr, but the driver allegedly sped off, nearly striking police. The pursuit ended near Groesbeck and Industrial in Roseville, where three suspects were taken into custody.
The Warren Police Special Response Team later executed search warrants at homes in Roseville and Warren. A fourth adult and one juvenile were taken into custody during that phase of the investigation.
Authorities said the attack stemmed from an ongoing feud over a dating relationship.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorized multiple felony charges Thursday following arraignments in 37th District Court. The juvenile’s charging status remains under review, including whether the case will proceed in adult court.
