West Bloomfield Township, MI — Police are investigating what they describe as a targeted armed robbery that occurred Saturday evening in a residential neighborhood.
According to a February 22 press release from the West Bloomfield Township Police Department, dispatchers received a 911 call around 7:00 PM on February 21 regarding an armed robbery that had just taken place at a home in the 7000 block of Timberview Trail.
Officers responded immediately and searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Preliminary information indicates the male victim had just purchased high-end jewelry from a store in the area and drove directly to an acquaintance’s home. As he pulled into the driveway, police say he was approached almost immediately by a tall, slender unknown male dressed head to toe in dark clothing, gloves, and a mask.
Investigators say the suspect pointed a pistol at the victim, addressed him by his first name, and demanded specific pieces of jewelry along with his wallet. After obtaining the items, the suspect fled south through the neighborhood on foot.
Authorities believe the robbery was targeted and not random. No injuries were reported.
Anyone with information or video related to the incident is asked to contact the West Bloomfield Police Department’s Investigations Bureau at (248) 975-8920.
