Wayne County, MI – A 36-year-old Huron Township man is facing multiple felony charges, including several life-offense counts, after police say he was arrested within hours of a reported criminal sexual conduct incident involving a minor.
According to the Huron Township Police Department, officers were dispatched at 12:48 p.m. on February 17, 2026, after receiving a report that a criminal sexual conduct incident involving a child had occurred on February 15. Detectives, working alongside patrol and command staff, launched an investigation and took Terry Wayne Sturgill into custody later that same afternoon in Monroe County at approximately 3:57 p.m.
On February 20, 2026, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges against Sturgill. He was arraigned that afternoon before Judge Lisa Martin of the 34th District Court and is currently being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
The charges filed against Sturgill include:
• Count 1: Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (Relationship), alleged sexual penetration involving a child at least 13 but less than 16 years of age. Felony punishable by life imprisonment, mandatory lifetime electronic monitoring, mandatory AIDS/STD testing, and possible consecutive sentencing under MCL 750.520b(3).
• Count 2: Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (Relationship), alleged sexual penetration involving a child at least 13 but less than 16 years of age. Felony punishable by life imprisonment, mandatory lifetime electronic monitoring, mandatory AIDS/STD testing, and possible consecutive sentencing under MCL 750.520b(3).
• Count 3: Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (Relationship), alleged sexual penetration involving a child at least 13 but less than 16 years of age. Felony punishable by life imprisonment, mandatory lifetime electronic monitoring, mandatory AIDS/STD testing, and possible consecutive sentencing under MCL 750.520b(3).
• Count 4: Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree (Multiple Variables), alleged sexual contact involving a child at least 13 but less than 16 years of age. Felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and mandatory AIDS/STD testing.
• Count 5: Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree (Multiple Variables), alleged sexual contact involving a child at least 13 but less than 16 years of age. Felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and mandatory AIDS/STD testing.

Court records show Sturgill is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on March 3, 2026 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Preliminary Examination set for March 10, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.
Sturgill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
