Royal Oak Township, MI – A 41-year-old man was shot late Tuesday night at the Legacy 8 Event Center in the Charter Township of Royal Oak, prompting an active investigation by Michigan State Police.
According to authorities, the Detroit Regional Communication Center received multiple calls at approximately 10:40 p.m. on February 24 reporting shots fired in the area. Moments later, dispatchers received another call stating that a man had been shot inside the event center located at 20731 Wyoming Ave.
Metro North troopers arrived quickly and began securing the scene. Inside, they located a 41-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound. Troopers rendered aid and stabilized the victim before he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He was listed in stable condition when he left the scene.
Detectives remained at the location conducting witness interviews and collecting evidence. A search warrant was drafted for the crime scene as investigators work to determine what led up to the shooting. Authorities say multiple leads are currently being pursued.
