Toledo Urologist Charged in Ann Arbor Child Sex Abuse Material Case

Washtenaw County, MI – A Toledo urologist affiliated with Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo is facing multiple felony charges in Ann Arbor involving alleged child sexually abusive material, according to court records.

Bryan Shanley Sack, 42, was arrested Friday in Ann Arbor and arraigned Saturday in the 15th District Court. Court records indicate he posted a $75,000 cash or surety bond the same day.

Prosecutors have charged Sack with three counts of child sexually abusive material, aggravated possession, one count of child sexually abusive material, possession, and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. The computer-related charges include offenses carrying potential penalties ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted. The alleged offense date listed in court records is February 20.

During his arraignment, Sack stood mute and a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. He is represented by retained counsel, Parisa Sadrnia. A probable cause conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 5 in Ann Arbor. If the case is bound over, it would move to Washtenaw County Circuit Court.

Sack had been employed for approximately 18 months as a urologist with Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo. In a statement, hospital officials said they were “deeply shocked and concerned” upon learning of the arrest. The hospital confirmed Sack was immediately terminated and no longer has access to patients, facilities, or medical records. Officials also stated their understanding from law enforcement is that the charges are not related to his clinical work, including his time at Nationwide Children’s – Toledo.

According to publicly available information, Sack received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and had been in practice between 11 and 20 years.

Sack is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
