Accumulating Snow Expected Across Metro Detroit This Evening; Colder Air Returns Sunday

DETROIT — Widespread accumulating snow is expected across Southeast Michigan later today, with most of Metro Detroit forecast to see 1–2 inches by tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac.

Forecasters say the snow will move in during the evening hours, creating slick travel conditions on untreated roads and bridges. Higher totals of 2–3 inches are possible north and east of the city, particularly along the Lake Huron shoreline, including areas such as Bad Axe and surrounding communities.

In Metro Detroit, including Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw, and Port Huron, most locations are expected to land in the 1–2 inch range. Areas south of Detroit, including Monroe and Adrian, may see lighter totals closer to 1 inch or less.

High temperatures Saturday will range from the upper 20s north to low 40s south before colder air settles in overnight. Lows are expected to drop into the teens and low 20s.

By Sunday, conditions turn colder across the region. Clouds will gradually decrease throughout the day, but highs will only reach the 20s to near 30 degrees, with morning lows dipping into the single digits north to teens south.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time this evening as road conditions may deteriorate quickly once snowfall begins.
