Sterling Heights Man Charged With Animal Torture After Allegedly Beating Dog

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A Sterling Heights man is facing felony animal torture charges after prosecutors say he repeatedly struck a dog with a leash and punched it in the face.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Bradley Allen, 26, of Sterling Heights, was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from an alleged incident last month.

According to authorities, the incident occurred February 20, 2026, when Allen allegedly struck a dog with a leash three times and hit the dog in the face approximately six times. It was a video New Media Detroit brought to the public’s attention and you all responded by helping bring charges against this individual.

Allen was arraigned March 4, 2026 in 41A District Court in Sterling Heights before Magistrate Jean M. Cloud.

Charges

Allen faces the following charges:

Animals – Killing/Torturing – Third Degree — 4-year felony
Animals – Abandoning/Cruelty to One Animal — 93-day misdemeanor

Magistrate Cloud set Allen’s bond at $7,500 cash/surety/10%.

If released, Allen is prohibited from having contact with, possessing, or owning any animal that could be considered a pet.

Allen is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on April 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Eric D. Shepherd in 41A District Court.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said cases involving alleged abuse of animals are taken seriously.

“It is deeply concerning when defenseless animals are denied the compassion they depend on. They rely entirely on humans for their well-being. When credible allegations of abuse or torture arise, my office has a responsibility to pursue charges and seek justice—and we will fulfill that responsibility,” Lucido said.

Allen is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
