Amazon Drone delivery is coming to Pontiac and it will be here in time for the holiday shopping season later this year.
The company hosted an event on Tuesday, July 29th at Lafayette Grande in Pontiac to showcase its technology to local residents. They also announced that the drone delivery service will launch in Pontiac in the fall/winter of 2025 just in time for Christmas.
When the service launches a “drone delivery” or “60-minute delivery” option at checkout will be available to chose. Packages must be 5lbs or less and the delivery radius from the facility is limited to a 7.5-mile radius.
As for the possibility the new drone delivery service will eliminate jobs? Amazon says no chance.
“Right here in Pontiac, Michigan, we’ve had a site in the community for quite a while that are directly supporting your business and making sure that each step, each opportunity, local community members have the opportunity to apply here,” said Ian Conyers, head of Community Affairs at Amazon.
