Detroit, MI — Two men have been arraigned in connection with the December 2024 killing of a Genesee County man whose body was discovered inside an abandoned Detroit school.

Jalen Davon Williams, 25, and Hodari Jermaine Heatley, 28, were arraigned in Detroit’s 36th District Court on March 6 and March 7, 2026, respectively, on multiple felony charges related to the death of then 21-year-old Mason Tabor.
Both men were ordered held without bond in the Wayne County Jail.
Williams is charged with first-degree murder – premeditated, felony murder, armed robbery, and felony firearm. Heatley is charged with first-degree murder – premeditated, felony murder, and armed robbery.
According to prosecutors, Tabor traveled to Detroit on December 16, 2024 to meet Williams after the two arranged a meeting for Tabor to sell a handgun. Investigators say the men met near LaSalle on Detroit’s west side before going into a vacant gymnasium at an abandoned school near Wildemere and Buena Vista.
VIDEO ARRAIGNMENT OF JALEN DAVON WILLIAMS
Prosecutors allege the meeting was part of a planned robbery. Tabor was later found inside the building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including wounds to the head and torso.

Investigators say Tabor had been shot seven times, and shell casings were located near his body. Authorities also found his smashed iPhone and car keys in a nearby trash can, according to statements made during the arraignment.
Prosecutors told the court that witness statements, phone records, and surveillance video place Williams and Heatley near the scene at the time of the shooting.
Investigators also allege that Williams later admitted to a witness that Heatley shot Tabor while he was on the ground.
Phone location data and tether records from Heatley’s monitoring device were also cited by prosecutors as evidence placing the suspects near the crime scene.
Authorities further allege that after the shooting, Williams returned to his mother’s home where he was captured on surveillance video holding a gas can before clothing was later found burned on a barbecue grill.
During the arraignment, prosecutors argued the killing was premeditated and connected to a robbery involving the handgun Tabor brought to sell.
A judge ordered both men remanded to the Wayne County Jail while the case proceeds.
