Additional Details Released In Case Of Roseville MHSAA Wrestling Referee Charged In Teen Messaging Case

Warren, MI → A 43-year-old Roseville man who worked as a high school wrestling referee and middle school coach is facing felony charges after prosecutors say he pursued inappropriate contact with a teenage girl he met while officiating matches.

Stephen Livings

Stephen Livings was arraigned Feb. 6 before Judge Steven Bieda in 37th District Court in Warren on charges stemming from his alleged interactions with the student. According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Livings approached the girl during wrestling events, asked for her social media information, and began asking personal questions.

Authorities allege that on another occasion, Livings took the teen’s phone and entered his own contact information. Prosecutors say he later sent her inappropriate messages along with images and videos.

Livings is charged with using a computer to commit a crime, a 7-year felony, and accosting a child for immoral purposes, a 4-year felony. Officials noted these are the maximum charges authorized under the law based on the evidence presented.

CHARGES:

Computers – Using to Commit a Crime – Maximum Imprisonment of 4 years or More But Less Than Ten Years, a 7-year felony
Children – Accosting for Immoral Purposes, a 4-year felony

The case was brought forward after concerns were raised about Livings’ conduct while working around student athletes. He had served as a wrestling referee at the high school level and previously coached middle school wrestling.

Judge Bieda issued a $10,000 personal bond, allowing Livings to remain free as the case moves through the court process. He is scheduled to return for a probable cause conference on Feb. 19, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. in 37th District Court.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido addressed the allegations in a statement following the arraignment.

“The allegations in this case are disturbing. Our office takes such conduct seriously and will pursue accountability through the justice system. We remain committed to protecting the victims and safeguarding the children in our community,” Lucido said.

Livings is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
