Alcohol Fueled Chaos: Nearly Half of Big House Ejections Tied to Drinking at Michigan-Ohio State Game

Several fans at the Michigan-Ohio State game never saw the final whistle because…they were ejected.

According to the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety & Security, officers removed 37 people from the stadium throughout the game.

Breakdown of ejections:
14 — Disorderly conduct
11 — Highly intoxicated
6 — Stadium rule violations
3 — Fighting
2 — Minors in possession of alcohol

One person was arrested for resisting and obstructing police, and another was cited for public urination, according to Deputy Chief Melissa Overton.

Officials noted the total was higher than normal for a home game.

First responders were also busy with 63 people receiving medical assistance, and 26 of them being transported to the hospital, including eleven for excessive alcohol use. The cold conditions may have pushed more fans to seek medical help.

Michigan fell to Ohio State 27-9.
