Governor Whitmer is on some sort run at a record here on time spent out of Michigan for the year. If she’s not on taxpayer funded “business trips” to other countries blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars on travel then she’s in D.C. rubbing elbows with policymakers.
On Tuesday Whitmer was out of Michigan yet again but this time it wasn’t on an all-expenses paid international soiree, this time she was back in Washington asking Daddy Trump for help on how to run the State of Michigan.
Whitmer bolted out of town on a private jet for clean, fresh air and a private meeting with President Trump. Whitmer claims she would rather speak with the President face-to-face which is why she packed up and headed down south.
“I’ve always said that I’ll work with anyone to get things done for Michigan,” Whitmer, a potential 2028 presidential candidate, said in a statement Tuesday. “That’s why I’ve continued to go to Washington, D.C., to make sure that Michiganders are front and center when critical decisions are being made.”
Among the topics Whitmer wanted to discuss? Essentially she seems to be asking Daddy Trump how to run Michigan.
In her Tuesday release Whitmer said that she told Trump and “his team about the impact tariffs are having on Michigan’s economy, especially our auto industry.” She also discussed “changes in the Medicaid program, and ongoing recovery efforts following the ice storm in Northern Michigan this year.”
Sounds like a phone call could have gotten the job done on those topics but what do I know? I’m stuck breathing our “partners to the norths” lack of a forest management policy while she gets to gallivant around on a private jet, on the public’s dime.
