A suspected body dumping on Belle Isle led to a fast police response and the arrest of multiple suspects Friday afternoon.
Just before 2:30 p.m. on October 17, Detroit Police were alerted to a report of a body possibly dumped near Lakeside and Lucern on Belle Isle. The suspect vehicle, a silver Ford Focus, was later spotted by a Michigan State Police sergeant leaving the island.
A traffic stop was conducted on Jefferson near East Grand Boulevard, confirming the license plate matched the suspect vehicle. Detroit Police arrived on scene and took custody of the vehicle and suspects.
The kidnapped victim was later located near the original area of the incident. All victims were recovered safely.
“Another collaborative effort between MSP and DPD,” said First Lt. Mike Shaw. “Fortunately, these suspects were taken into custody before someone was seriously hurt.”
Detroit Police are continuing the investigation.
