ALLEN PARK, Mich. — A Special Investigation Section response was requested Sunday evening following an officer-involved shooting in Allen Park.
According to authorities, the Second District Special Investigation Section was called in by the Lincoln Park Police Department to investigate an incident involving one of its officers. The shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 4 near the Allen Park Motor Lodge Motel in Allen Park.

Police said no officers or members of the public were injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public, though residents should expect a heavy police presence in the area for several hours as the investigation continues.
