***PRESS RELEASE – FLOCK CAMERA SYSTEM PLAYS KEY ROLE IN ARRESTING LARCENY SUSPECT***

The Shelby Township Police Department has arrested a male suspect who was responsible for a series of propane tank thefts in the township.

One of the officers working on the case was able to review surveillance footage and discovered 12 propane tanks were stolen. The suspect and his vehicle were identified using the FLOCK system. The case was quickly turned over to the detective bureau for follow up and they identified the suspect as Nathanael Mangold. It was later determined that Mangold was linked to several other propane tank thefts over the past few weeks.

Detectives located Mangold and conducted a traffic stop. Mangold was taken into custody without incident.

On 08/19/25, Nathanael Rodger Mangold was arraigned in front of Magistrate Verploeg for:

-Felony Larceny over $1,000 but less than $20,000.

Mangold was given a Personal Bond and released from custody.

“Our officers and detectives worked quickly and effectively, and the FLOCK camera system played a key role in solving these 4 separate cases. Technology like this allows us to identify suspects faster, recover stolen property and ultimately keep our community safer from criminals like this.” Shelby Township Chief of Police Robert J. Shelide.
