Captured in the Carolinas: Oakland County CSC Fugitive Back Behind Bars in Michigan

A Michigan man who fled the state earlier this year while facing a felony criminal sexual conduct charge is now back in custody in Oakland County following his arrest in South Carolina last month.

Returned to Michigan and Booked Into Oakland County Jail

Kyle Jonathan Alband

According to updated jail records, 35-year-old Kyle Jonathan Alband was booked into the Oakland County Jail on December 2, 2025 at 6:09 p.m. after being extradited back to Michigan. Alband had been taken into custody in Walhalla, South Carolina on November 20 after a coordinated search involving the U.S. Marshals Service, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, the GBI ARDEO Task Force, and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Alband had been wanted on a third-degree criminal sexual conduct (force or coercion) charge after missing a scheduled court date earlier this year. His failure to appear resulted in a bench warrant being issued and his bond being revoked and forfeited. Federal authorities became involved when investigators determined he had fled Michigan and was crossing state lines.

Bond Denied in Court; Next Hearing Scheduled

Court records show that after being returned to Michigan, Alband appeared in Oakland County Circuit Court on December 3, 2025. During that appearance:

  • Bond was denied in the CSC case.
  • Proceedings were ordered to be held in person.
  • A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for January 8, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Martha D. Anderson.

Background on the Case

As previously reported by New Media Detroit, Alband was initially arraigned in February 2025 and was bound over to Circuit Court on the CSC-3 charge. After missing a subsequent court date, a series of enforcement actions followed in September, including a motion to revoke his bond, the revocation itself, forfeiture of his posted bond, and the issuance of a warrant on September 10 for failure to appear.

Separate from the CSC case, Alband also had multiple misdemeanor matters and bench warrants tied to traffic and registration violations issued throughout the spring of 2025.
