Clinton Township Man With Violent History Faces Murder Charge After Young Woman’s Death

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — A 23-year-old Clinton Township man is now facing some of the most serious charges under Michigan law after prosecutors say he shot and killed a young woman inside her own home. Court records show the case involves not only a fatal shooting, but a defendant with a recent violent felony history who had only been released from court supervision months before the killing.

Jeremiah Broady

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Jeremiah Broady, 23, of Clinton Township, was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the death of a 21-year-old Clinton Township woman. Prosecutors allege Broady was inside the victim’s home on Friday, January 30, 2026, when he fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking her several times. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived.

Broady was arraigned on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.

Prior violent felony record

New Media Detroit has learned that Broady had a documented history of violent felony convictions before this case. Court records from Hillsdale County show he previously pled no contest twice to Assault With a Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault) for a 2021 offense. He was just cut free from probation in May of 2025.

Because of those prior felony convictions, Broady was legally prohibited from possessing or handling firearms or ammunition at the time of the alleged shooting.

Current charges

Prosecutors have charged Broady with a sweeping list of felonies tied to both the homicide and his alleged illegal possession of a gun:

Murder – Second-Degree, a felony punishable by life or any term of years
Weapons – Felony Firearm (three separate counts), each carrying a mandatory 2-year prison term served consecutive to any sentence
Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony
Weapons – Ammunition – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony

He is also charged as a Habitual Offender – Second Offense, which allows the court to impose enhanced penalties due to his prior felony record.

Magistrate Zemke set Broady’s bond at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Jacob Femminineo Jr.

In a statement, Prosecutor Lucido said, “Once again, our community mourns the tragic loss of a young life due to gun violence. Another young individual now faces serious allegations in connection with this incident. Our office will diligently pursue justice, ensuring that all allegations are thoroughly investigated and addressed under the law.”

As with all criminal cases, Jeremiah Broady is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
