Detroit TikToker Reports Threat Against U.S. Attorney General; FBI Arrests Minnesota Man

A Detroit-area TikTok user is being credited with helping federal investigators uncover an online threat against U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to an FBI affidavit obtained by New Media Detroit.

The six-page affidavit unsealed this week in the District of Minnesota and dated 10/16/2025, details how 30-year-old Tyler Avalos is accused of posting a graphic threat offering a $45,000 “hit” on Bondi through TikTok. The post allegedly showed an image of the Attorney General with a sniper-scope red dot on her forehead and the caption, “WANTED: Pam Bondi … DEAD OR ALIVE (PREFERABLY DEAD).”

The Detroit user, who came across the post on October 9, immediately reported it to authorities. That tip triggered a federal investigation which traced the account to an internet connection in St. Paul, Minnesota. Records from Comcast tied the IP address to Avalos, who agents say used his phone to create the TikTok account that posted the threat.

Avalos, who has prior convictions for stalking and domestic violence, is now facing a federal charge of Interstate Transmission of a Threat to Injure the Person of Another, a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 875(b).

The case underscores how quickly social media threats can escalate into federal crimes. The FBI says Avalos’s post crossed state lines digitally, giving federal agents jurisdiction.

If convicted, Avalos faces a potential federal prison sentence and significant fines.

Federal officials thanked the Detroit TikToker for acting quickly and helping prevent what they called “a credible and targeted online threat.”
