Monroe, MI — A driver was cited following a rollover crash Friday afternoon at a Monroe intersection where visibility was reportedly limited due to heavy fog.
According to the City of Monroe Public Safety Department, officers responded around 2:35 p.m. on March 6 to the intersection of North Monroe Street and East Lorain Street for a reported injury crash.

Investigators say a gray Ford Edge was traveling eastbound on East Lorain Street and had stopped at the stop sign at North Monroe Street. The driver told officers that dense fog reduced visibility, and they did not see any approaching vehicles.
When the Ford Edge entered the intersection, it was struck by a red Toyota Camry traveling northbound on North Monroe Street. The impact caused the SUV to roll over and come to rest on its roof.
Both drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and the driver of the Ford Edge was later transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Police determined the driver of the Ford Edge was at fault, and a citation was issued. Investigators said speed and intoxication were not factors in the crash.
