Darius McCrary, best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the hit sitcom Family Matters, has been arrested at the U.S.–Mexico border in San Diego on a Michigan felony warrant tied to unpaid child support.
According to Michigan court records, McCrary is charged under MCL 750.165 – Child Support Failing to Pay / Leaving State, a felony offense. The complaint, authorized by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, alleges McCrary left the state while failing to pay court-ordered support.
Records show the case dates back to April 1, 2024, with a comment noting “Bond Abscond.” A warrant was later signed and issued on August 29, 2024 by Judge Cynthia Thomas Walker of Oakland County Circuit Court. The warrant remained active until McCrary’s arrest this week.
He is expected to appear in court October 15 to begin extradition proceedings back to Michigan.
McCrary’s prior legal issues include earlier arrests over unpaid child support tied to his ex-wife, former Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner.
