Location: Eastbound Metropolitan Parkway near Gratiot Avenue
A 76-year-old man from St. Clair Shores was arrested after crashing his Jeep into a fully marked Metro North State Police patrol car Friday evening in Clinton Township.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Metropolitan Parkway near Gratiot Avenue. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Investigators determined the driver was operating while impaired. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Macomb County Jail, where a breath test showed his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. The case is pending review by the prosecutor’s office.
“Impaired drivers are a danger to all of us,” said F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “There is absolutely no reason to drive impaired. Ever. With the holiday season right around the corner, hopefully this will serve as a reminder to not drive impaired.”
