The Detroit News and Freeps (Free Press) are no more as their printing press located in Sterling Heights has officially closed with the last print of the papers happening Sunday, August 3rd.
Beginning August 5th the News and Free Press will now be printed in OHIO. The papers will then be trucked from Ohio to the Metro-Detroit area for distribution.
Not sure who thought this one through but people from Michigan don’t necessarily think too highly of the State of Ohio. Something about football and a rivalry.
As for what’s going to happen to the land where the printing press sits now at Mound and 16 Mile Road? Sheetz has lined up to buy it.
