Estranged Husband Killed After Breaking Into Fowlerville Home, Opening Fire on Christmas Night

FOWLERVILLE, Mich. — An estranged husband was shot and killed Christmas night after breaking into a Livingston County home and opening fire, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 5500 block of Nicholson Road around 7:09 p.m. on Dec. 25 following a 911 call reporting shots fired. When deputies arrived, they located an armed man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the suspect forced his way into the home and fired multiple rounds at the homeowner, striking him twice. The homeowner returned fire, hitting the suspect.

The homeowner called 911 and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities identified the deceased as the estranged husband of a woman who was visiting the homeowner at the time of the shooting. Investigators say the man drove approximately one hour from Lake Orion to the Fowlerville residence before the incident occurred.

The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been announced.
