A semi truck rolled over late Sunday morning, shutting down eastbound I-94 near Michigan Avenue and snarling traffic in both directions.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers were dispatched around 10:45 a.m. after multiple calls reported a single-vehicle crash on eastbound I-94. When crews arrived, they found a semi truck that had struck the median barrier and rolled onto its side. The driver, a 39-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of a possible concussion.
The crash caused significant damage to the median barrier, leaving it broken and dislodged, blocking the two left lanes of westbound I-94 near Michigan Avenue. Eastbound I-94 was shut down at the Michigan Avenue ramp, while westbound traffic was reduced to a single right lane as cleanup and repairs continued.
“It doesn’t matter if it is rain, ice or snow,” said Mike Shaw. “Drivers have to drive at a speed where they can control their vehicle regardless of the conditions.”
