Two men were killed Saturday night after a violent single-vehicle crash on westbound I-94 near Eight Mile Road.
Michigan State Police say troopers responded around 8:30 p.m. and witnesses reported the driver was driving “recklessly” before losing control and slamming into a tree.
When troopers arrived, they found the vehicle heavily damaged with both occupants deceased at the scene. The driver, a 40-year-old Saint Clair Shores man, and his passenger, a 26-year-old Clinton Township resident, were both pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved.
The freeway was closed for about four hours as investigators documented the scene and collected evidence.
“When you get behind the wheel of a vehicle you are responsible for everyone on the road,” said F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “We continue to see the same risky driving behaviors lead to preventable crashes and deaths on Michigan roads. Please slow down, don’t drive distracted or impaired.”
