Jamarr Hill, 37, pleaded guilty to second degree murder after prosecutors said he beat the boy to death inside their Detroit home on November 4, 2024. The Wayne County Medical Examiner ruled Adren’s death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries to the head.
In exchange for his plea deal, prosecutors dropped more severe charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse. He was sentenced to serve 18-40 years in prison.
Authorities say Hill did not act alone. Adren’s mother, Kentoria Latricia Moss, 31, is accused of taking part in the fatal beating and later lying to police. Her case is still ongoing with a preliminary court examination set for August 29, 2025.
Hill was sentenced on August 7, 2025 by Judge John Gillis, who said it was among the worst cases he has ever seen. Family members called Hill a monster and vowed that no prison term would ever deliver justice for Adren’s death.
