HARPER WOODS, Mich. — A funeral repast turned violent Saturday night after a fight broke out inside an event hall, leaving five people injured, according to police. Three people were shot and two others were stabbed during the incident, which unfolded around 9:20 p.m.
The violence occurred at Platinum Affairs Event Hall, where officers say a gathering escalated into a physical altercation that quickly spiraled out of control. Emergency crews responded to reports of multiple injuries involving both gunfire and stab wounds.
Police confirmed one suspect was taken into custody at the scene. All five victims were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive. Investigators are continuing to piece together what led up to the confrontation and are asking anyone with information to contact Harper Woods Police Department.
