Flint Men Arrested In Multi-State Cash App Theft Scheme As One Suspect Has Genesee County Criminal History

Flint, MI → Two men from Flint are facing charges in connection to what authorities describe as an ongoing multi-state theft scheme involving fraudulent Cash App transactions at retail stores, according to court records out of Iowa.

Tavion Anthony Williams (2026)

Tavion Anthony Williams and Larrion Jerard Taylor were recently taken into custody in Warren County, Iowa following an investigation into alleged fraudulent activity tied to a Norwalk business and other locations. Investigators allege the pair participated in an ongoing criminal conduct operation connected to multiple theft attempts at Dollar General stores across Iowa and Missouri.

Court records indicate both men are charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony. Authorities allege the scheme involved using Cash App to fraudulently load funds for financial gain, including both successful and unsuccessful transactions. One reported incident involved a $500 theft at a Norwalk Dollar General on January 10.

Investigators say evidence in the case includes surveillance video, witness statements, police reports, license plate reader data, and body-worn camera footage that allegedly links Williams and Taylor to the theft activity.

In a related case in Clarke County, Iowa, the two are also accused of working with a third individual to carry out a separate theft scheme at a Dollar General store in Osceola. Court documents allege the group fraudulently loaded $500 onto three separate cash applications, resulting in a reported $1,500 loss to the business. Authorities believe similar transactions were carried out at multiple store locations across the region.

Both men were booked into the Warren County Jail in Iowa, and the cases remain ongoing.

The latest arrest is not Williams’ first encounter with law enforcement. Back in 2021, he was one of two Flint men arrested in Genesee County in connection to a suspected car theft ring that investigators believed stretched across multiple counties and possibly into other states.

At the time, Williams and another suspect were accused of stealing six vehicles from a Davison car dealership on two separate nights. Prosecutors alleged the thefts caused more than $20,000 in damage. Investigators said the suspects forced their way onto the lot by tearing down fencing and even used vehicles as battering rams to move other cars out of the way.

Police later recovered some of the stolen vehicles with the help of tracking technology, and the suspects were reportedly identified through surveillance footage captured shortly after the thefts.

Prosecutors in that case described the operation as bold and organized, and suggested the young suspects may have been working as part of a larger theft network.

Now, years later, Williams’ name is once again tied to an investigation that authorities believe spans multiple locations and involves coordinated criminal activity.
